Well, with all this snow it certainly feels like I am on a ski getaway and I am only sitting in my parents house on Long Island. However, if you are off to a real ski destination this holiday - maybe in New England or out West, then its time to get together a chic ski bunny look thats suitable for dinner at the lodge and drinks at the local bar!
Be warm, cozy and ultra feminine in a palette of soft grays and beige. A thin knit dress, sweater tights and a fur vest are the cornerstone of this look. Accessorize with a sweater or fur bag, pretty delicate gold accessories and over the knee flat boots that will help you easily navigate through the snow (even with a glass of champagne or two in you!)

If you are steering clear of the crowds at the clubs and restaurants this New Year's Eve and instead opting for a more relaxed, but still chic party that perhaps you or a friend or family member is hosting, you may ask yourself: what should I wear? New Year's Eve is certainly a special night, but if you are going a bit more casual, house-party style we recommend choosing a key party piece, like cute sequined shorts or a mini skirt and dressing the look down with a cozy sweater, boots and some edgy jewelry.

Whatever your New Year's plans... a black tie soiree, a house party or a ski getaway we've got you covered! In this three part series, I'll breakdown my top 3 favorite looks for New Year's Eve (depending on occassion) that are sure to make you sparkle, shine and show off! Today's look? The Black Tie Soiree!
Inspired by a gala at the NYC Ballet this "Black Tie" look is all about feminity and bling! We love the dusty blue-green color of the dress as well as the embellished feathered one shoulder look. To make this look pop without overdoing it accessorize with crystal jewelry, show-stopping frosted pumps, and a feminine clutch. Don't overdue it on the jewelry and let the dress speak for itself; a small drop earring and one bold piece, like a substantial cuff will do.

I especially love the prepster look and a dude who can rock it well? To quote Paris Hilton, "That's Hot". A preppy guy should be fairly easy to shop for this season. Just stick with a designer you will know he loves: Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, Vineyard Vines. You get the drift.

I'm not talking politics here, ladies. I'm talking style. And everyone knows someone who is a bit "conservative" when it comes to their style. Maybe they are a teacher and need to have a wardrobe that's professional yet approachable. Or maybe they are just too practical to care too much about following the trends each season. Doesn't mean the conservative doesn't want to look nice! Pamper them with a gift that they'll wear over and over again and truly cherish!
$250 Loft Gift Card/ Loft.com
Gift Cards may not be very exciting, but the conservative will appreciate going shopping and getting everything they want for a new winter wardrobe from a go-to store for pretty, practical pieces like The LOFT!

Oh the Hipster dude! The "trend" of the now - the hipster is our current alternative. He loves music and fashion and can be a little bit of a tough one to shop for because he has such a specific style he goes after. So what do you get him? Don't try too hard to find the next "coolest" thing. Just pick up something that looks like him, that you know he'd wear and love.

The indie girl. She's in the know on all things "cool" - listens to the best new bands, loves yoga and occasionally restricts herself to a raw food diet, has an off-beat sense of style thats quirky, vintage-inspired and always very unique. Maybe she is the little sister or cousin in college or that super sweet creative coworker on your gift list.
Get indies something unique, but useful, like a cozy scarf or gloves, pretty gemstone jewelry or a versatile leather bag. They'll appreciate the thoughtfulness and functionality of the gift.

Everyone knows a trendsetter. She is the girl in the group that isn't just following the trends, but starting them. She always knows whats hot about 2 - 5 months before you decide you need it too. She loves labels, but she appreciates a good up-and-coming designer as well.
So what do you buy the girl that seemingly has everything? It can be a toughy! Our best advice is to go with a recognizable brand name and choose something from that collection thats slightly less expected and of course, in line with the trends of the season. When in doubt ask yourself, does it come in a shade thats hot for the season (like army green or camel) or does it come in a material thats right now (like animal print, fur or lace)?
Michele Watches Tahitian Jelly Bean Chronographic Watch Olive & Green/ $345 at Saks
We love Michele Watches and so do most trendsetters we know! Must have of the season is their new "Jelly Bean" Chronograph Watches. They come in all sorts of bright colors but we think the trendsettter would appreciate our pick in military green, a must-have color for Fall/Winter.

Hope everyone had a fab Thanksgiving! London was fabulous and I am happy to report I even got to pick-up a few awesome items at some of my favorite London shopping stops - Top Shop, Portabello Market and Mango. I also discovered some new fab places like All Saints Spitafields and Sweaty Betty, an adorable Lulu Lemon-esq fitness store.
How did I wear it? Warm! It was super cold so it was all about the layering. Heavy Fair-Isle sweaters, tall boots, leg warmers and fur galore! In fact, it was nearly impossible to avoid the fair-isle look everywhere I went. It's a top trend for the season! Sequin and lace details femmed-up some of the heavier sweaters I coveted at Top Shop too.
In the purse department, its all about the cross-body bag across the pond as well and the more vintage the better. Expect fur on all accessories too, including outerwear headbands and earmuffs, boots and booties, and even bags.
Here are some pics of some of my favorite looks from the trip and a hardcore shopping shot captured of me at Portabella Road. True shop-a-holic vintage purse shopping in action!
Me and my brother. My outfit? TopShop lace sweater (trip purchase), Jimmy Choo for H&M Cropped Vest and Daisy Fuentes for Kohl's Gold Knot Necklace
My typical site-seeing ensemb: H&M Wool Coat (with hood in case of rain of course), J. Crew Metallic Jersey Stitch Hat in Grey, Camel Leather Banana Republic Boots
Portabella Road Shopping Trip: Ann Taylor Loft Wool Fedora and Gucci Shades
